Where are the Help files
« on: August 01, 2007, 09:37:20 pm »
Great open source project

Where can I find help files? I find the wiki help very sparse, confusing, incomplete and non-intuitive.

Are ther any offlines files that I can use for help

any help would be apprecaited

There are no other offline help files. Wiki is the help files at this time.

I agree there are many features in CalemEAM that are not documented.
Are there any specific topics that you're looking for?

I want to create an asset as a location and then tie in several other assets as child asset to that asset-location.

This is what i gathered from reading a previous post.

Thanks again

Steps to do it:
1. Create an asset and set asset category to location
2. Create an asset and set its location asset to the one created in step 1
3. Repeat step 2 for other assets you like to create.

Admin, Thank you again for helping.

Here is a question about functionality

I want to present to my customers a CFUI (Customer Facing User Interface).  They should be able to log in and see only their assets/work orders, etc.  I am not sure how to use groups and other features to accomplish this.

I see how I can use groups to only show these users, certain modules. I would not want them to enter work at this time, but maybe in a later phase of deployment I will enable this.

We are currently using Cworks-Free and would like to migrate to CalemEAM

Admin,

would it make sense to have a seperate section in the forum for FAQ or general help on functionality?

What is the difference between using the Parent asset field or  assigning an asset to another asset-location using the location assets method previously prescribed by you.

Thanks again

Great points. I have added a section for functionality help.

Parent asset field can be used to organize location tree, i.e., a plant location (modeled as an asset) has many location areas (such as office area, warehouse area). Or it can be used to organize assets into a whole and parts relationship, for instance, a production assembly (a parent asset) includes a motor (child asset) and conveyor system (child asset).
