can only add 1 custom field in form designer

I have the new CalemEAM r2.1. I'm currently attempting to change the Inventory fields to meet my needs. I created the new tables under the Inventory table, then when I go into the inventory, click customize, I drag new rows over, then the new tables to those rows. Every time I do this I only end up with 1 of the fields showing up. I also noticed if I place the custom field in the middle of the existing fields that none of the fields below the custom will show up. Am I doing something wrong?

figured it out - I was setting the custom fields as an integer, changed to varchar and it works fine.
