Inventory Item Image and/or Document lookup
« on: June 21, 2008, 08:24:37 am »
I'm curious to know why no image upload field is provided on the inventory item form. Maintenance personnel and buyers might find it easier and faster to find inventory items if it was possible to show a thumbnail in the inventory list and an image on the inventory item form.

Secondly, it would be nice to see a document lookup field added to allow maintenance personnel and buyers to find any drawing, part list, or other document associated with an inventory item. For example, the document control departments of many companies often maintain drawings of parts, especially custom fabricated parts or scan or paste vendor drawings or specs on A or B size drawings for use by purchasing, sustaining engineering and maintenance personnel. However, the existing Documet module does not appear to work as documented on the wiki (no file upload field).

In Calem Community Edition document is a container of attachments, so you have to go one layer to see the files uploaded. You may add a feature proposal to Mantis for adding inventory drawings.
