Mandate Failure Codes in Work Orders

This blog is deprecated. See How to Setup Failure Tree for Troubleshooting

Reporting failure/action/cause codes in corrective maintenance (CM) work orders allows tracking and analysis of failures and resolutions. The codes are not required in preventive maintenance (PM) work orders. This is done through system configuration.

 1. Require Failure/Action/Cause for All CM Work Orders

Edit EAM company (Organization | EAM Company) form and set "CM Failure" checkbox checked.

The configuration option is deprecated.

2. Require Failure/Action/Cause by Asset Groups

You may optionally set failure codes by asset groups. This option can be used with the system configuration above. It takes time to manage asset specific failure codes, you may opt for this function when needs arise.

Edit an asset group (Menu path: Asset Module | Codes | Asset Groups) and set "Required in WO" to true. You can do the same for a location group (Menu path: Asset Module | Codes | Location Groups).

Failure sets can be managed at Failure Module (Menu path: Failure Module | Failure Sets).
